Here's a draft(!) list of locations:
Birrarrung Marr
Apparently Federation Square is too small to accomodate the expected crowds so there are going to be screens at Birrarrung Marr instead. That's the area between Federation Square, the Yarra and the Citylink Access ramp:
www.thatsmelbourne.com.au/Placestogo/Par...ens/Pages/4433.aspx. This is probably THE PLACE to watch matches involving the Socceroos. Warm clothes needed!
Pugg Mahones
The Puggs stayed open to show matches of the German team during Euro 2008 and Germany 2006 World Cup and there was always a good crowd of fans (
www.puggs.com.au). I am going to check whether they are going to repeat this for this World Cup.
German Club Tivoli
Not the trendiest place in Melbourne but they have a big function room. That's where I watched the 2002 World Cup final between Germany and Brasil together with about 100 other fans. They are not guaranteed to stay open late for the matches in South Africa though! I am going to verify this. (

Charles Dickens (?)
The Charles Dickens is THE football pub in Melbourne. I expect that they show as many matches as possible. Don't go there if you hope England gets beaten though.
